LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington was once the place to be seen on Derby Eve. Now the who’s-who goes to Louisville.
Derby fans probably remember the Anita Madden and Marylou Whitney parties.
Those ended in the 1990’s but celebrities from all around the country would be in attendance.
The new 21c Museum Hotel wants to bring back Lexington’s legacy of Derby Eve.
It hosted a brunch Friday morning and is planning a big party Friday night to bring the pre-Derby atmosphere back to the Bluegrass.
Derby Eve Lexington is also trying to bring the party back. It is going on Friday night at the Pepper Distillery on Manchester Street.
The 44th annual Poor Man’s Derby Eve will be at B & B Morgan Tire on North Broadway.
Both Derby Eve Lexington and the Poor Man’s Derby Eve are raising money for charities.
