LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Students from several Kentucky middle schools attended the Watershed Conference on Wednesday, presenting their own watershed research projects at Dickey Hall for the UK College of Education.
The student research resulted from Kentucky middle school teachers attending a five-day seminar. The teachers spent time in the field learning to collect water samples and do basic testing. Participants analyzed EPA and state data, looking for patters of issues that might be happening.
The project began as a process of helping students come up with questions about their own watersheds.
