HARRODSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Mercer Co. Sheriff says an arrest has been made following a fatal hit-and-run incident in Harrodsburg on Sunday.
Investigators say 38-year-old Heather Marie Lawrence was hit by a truck in front of her home just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
At about 12:50 p.m. that day, a man called police and told them that a truck was parked in his driveway on Talmago Maro Road, just a few miles from where the woman was hit.
Officials went to investigate the truck, and determined it was the same one that had hit Lawrence.
Around 5:00 p.m., 23-year-old Matthew Warner, who had reported his vehicle missing at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, was brought into the Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
The Sheriff says that based on physical evidence and information from the interview, they were able to make an arrest.
Warner is charged with leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid/assistance with death or serious physical injury, and tampering with evidence. Both charges are felonies.
Warner is due to have a video arraignment in district court at 1:30 p.m. today.
