Madison Co. Sheriff’s Office to host “Battle of the Badges” b-ball tournament


RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is hosting the 1st Annual “Battle of the Badges” basketball tournament at Madison Central High School
Gymnasium on March 26, 2016.

All proceeds from the tournament will go to the effort of sending officers to National Police Week in Washington D.C. May 15th through May 21st.  National Police Week is dedicated to honoring all law enforcement officers, but honors those who have died in the line of duty, in particular.

The tournament will consist of teams from the local law enforcement community.  Players from the Madison Co. Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Richmond Police Department, Berea Police Department, Eastern Kentucky University, and Madison County Detention center will make up the teams participating in this single elimination tournament.

The first game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.  Admission is $5 and kids under the age of 10 are free.  Concessions and a limited number of t-shirts will be available on game day.

Although the basketball skills may be lacking, the Sheriff asks everyone to please come out and support a great cause, as well as your local law enforcement.
