LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Sheriff in Laurel County says a DUI arrest on Sunday was just the beginning of troubles for deputies involved.
The Sheriff says it started when Joseph Money, 57, was arrested on the West Cumberland Gap parkway on Sunday night just after 9:00 p.m. According to investigators, Money was seen driving a tan colored Ford through a stop sign on US 25 at Beatty Avenue. While in pursuit, deputies say Money drove over 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, and that he passed several cars on the wrong side of the road before hitting another vehicle head-on, injuring the driver. Money then ran off on foot, according to deputies, but was caught nearby.
Deputies say they found over 10 grams of methamphetamine on Money, along with a large amount of cash. Money faces multiple traffic violations including a DUI, as well as trafficking in a controlled substance.
The evening wasn’t over for deputies, though.
Investigators say after the collision on West Cumberland Parkway, Christina Michelle McCormick, 22, came to the scene and began screaming, yelling, and causing a disturbance. Deputies say they tried to calm her down, but she began struggling with law enforcement. She was charged with additional traffic violations, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
Both were taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
