LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – What a day it was at Rupp Arena. The boys’ Sweet 16 tipped off Wednesday at noon with Murray taking care of Buckhorn 62-35.
The game of the day was no doubt Dunbar’s 58-55 victory over Mercer County in a battle deemed by many to be what the state championship game could’ve been.
Trinity fell to Newport Central Catholic, 48-33, despite starting the game on an 11-2 run. The Rocks failed to score a single point in the second quarter and missed 20 consecutive shots.
Bowling Green handled Elliott County 75-59 in the first game of the night session.
