Simpson County deputy shot while serving warrant in Franklin

Police say three people have been shot and one of them has died in a parking lot next to a baseball field on the campus of Sacramento City College.

FRANKLIN, Ky. (AP) – A Simpson County deputy serving a warrant in Franklin has been shot and wounded.

Kentucky State Police Trooper B.J. Eaton says the suspect fired on the deputy, striking him. The deputy was able to return fire and also struck the suspect.

The suspect fled but was quickly apprehended, and both he and the deputy were hospitalized.

Eaton did not immediately have the names of the officer and suspect or their conditions.
