Straight line winds caused roof to blow off in Laurel County


LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – People in Laurel County are cleaning up after Tuesday’s storm.

The Emergency Management director says three homes in the Sasser School Road area were damaged.

According to the EMA director the roof blew off a mobile home, hurting a woman’s leg who was inside. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution but later released.

The National Weather Service surveyed the damaged. It says 60 mph straight line winds caused the roof to blow off.

The NWS also surveyed damage at two other homes. It says 90 mph winds caused siding and a gutter to blow off one house and the carport of another home to collapse.
