KNOXVILLE, TN. (WTVQ) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation awarded a $2.9 million contract to Charles Blalock and Sons, Inc. to repair the rockslide currently blocking Interstate 75 in Campbell County.
The slide occurred on Friday at mile marker 142 and sent vehicle-sized rocks falling onto both north and southbound lanes of I-75.
The contract stipulates the southbound lanes must reopen within 14 days, and one lane on the northbound side must be open within 21 days. The contract includes removal of debris, stabilization of the slope, and repairs to the interstate.
The entire repair project is estimated to be complete by April 15, 2016.
