Laurel Special Response Unit arrests 3 on drug charges

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Early Friday morning, Laurel county Sheriff’s Office Special Response Unit reported the arrest of three people off North Laurel Lake Road.

Around 1:15, Sheriff John Root says he received complaints about illegal drug activity in the area. He assigned the office’s special response unit to keep an eye on the area. After the unit gathered enough information, a search warrant was obtained and executed at the house.

Deputies report they found Crystal Methamphetamine, a large amount of Marijuana, digital scales, and glass smoking pipes specific to meth.

Michael Loudermilk and Matthew Powell were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (Methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition, Michael Loudermilk had a warrant out for his arrest from Laurel County, charging him with third-degree escape and evading police. He allegedly ran from deputies when told he was being arrested on outstanding warrants. Deputies report Loudermilk was also wanted for failure to appear in court after many traffic violations.

Natosha Caldwell was charged on a bench warrant, for failure to appear in court on various traffic violations.

Officers say other arrests are pending.
