LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington’s Tates Creek High School hosted a Love-A-Thon on Thursday evening. About 140 students, from all of the high schools in Lexington, gathered to email, text and Tweet encouraging words and compliments to family and friends.
ABC 36 News talked to one student who sent words of kindness to her mother.
“I’m going to cry, because my family has been through a lot and I know some people don’t have good support systems and my mom is the best support system that I have. I don’t know what I would do without her,” said Maia Williams.
This event is in its sixth year. It was started by the ‘Stop Youth Suicide’ campaign as a way to boost people’s self-worth and confidence.
