FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A circuit court has sentenced a Frankfort man to tens years, following an Alford Plea for human trafficking.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton says Jonathan Diaz, 19, was meeting teenage girls on social media sites, getting them to take photos of themselves, then meeting the girls and selling them to other men to have sex for money.  A report says Diaz was targeting young women in Fayette and Franklin counties.

Diaz was arrested at a motel after an undercover sting operation back in July of 2015.  Sheriff Melton says two undercover men met Diaz at a hotel room where they say he had a girl, 15, with him.

Diaz will be eligible for parole after eight and a half years, and will have to register as a sex offender. He will be subject for a conditional discharge for five years after being released.

An Alford Plea means a defendant does not admit guilt, but recognizes that there is enough evidence to make a conviction.
