LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Weather forecasters are predicting that approximately 2 inches of snow will fall in the Lexington area between now and early Wednesday, February 10.

Under the city’s snow plan, only Rank 1-4 streets will be plowed when Lexington gets between 1 and 4 inches of snow. Rank 1 streets are plowed first, followed by 2, 3 and then 4. All roads are plowed only when accumulation is more than 8 inches, as happened during the city’s first major snow of the season.

  • Rank 1 streets are the main roads in and out of the city. Examples include Main Street, Harrodsburg Road and Newtown Pike. Most Rank 1 roads are also snow emergency routes.
  • Rank 2 streets, such as Rosemont Garden and Bryan Avenue, connect Rank 1 roads and provide access to large commercial areas with offices and stores.
  • Rank 3 streets are main collector routes that connect residential areas to Rank 1 and 2 roads. Examples include Zandale Drive, Appian Way and Buck Lane.
  • Rank 4 streets are local collector streets within subdivisions, which allow residents access to main roads.

Please do not park along ranked roads; this allows plows to work more quickly. Citizens and businesses can also help keep Lexington moving by keeping their sidewalks clear.
