Irvine, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Estill County Health Department is investigating a possible salmonella outbreak in the community.
According to the department, 19 people have been confirmed with salmonella and 41 people are sick based on quick tests. The state says lab work should be ready next week.
The health department says six people have been hospitalized but half of them have already been released.
Officials are looking into a possible cause of the illness.
The Judge Executive says all food services in the county are up to code and he encourages people not to be afraid of going out to eat.
