Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington’s emergency weather plan for homelessness has been activated through at least tomorrow, which means the shelters are open 24-hours and transportation to those shelters is being provided.
Representatives at the Catholic Action Center say that about three times the normal amount of people are coming there to there location to stay warm.
The organization started to collect things like blankets, hats, and gloves in the fall so that they would have plenty of those to hand out, but with all the extra people at the shelter, they are now in desperate need of supplies to take care of everyone.
The Compassionate Action Van is also running around the clock to find those out in the cold and bring them to a shelter.
If you see someone in need of help, call the “cold line” at (859)-913-0038.
