LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A late night crash in Lexington sent one driver to University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the accident occurred around midnight Wednesday. The driver was thrown from the truck and was in serious condition when he was rushed to University of Kentucky Hospital, according to police.
ABC 36 was told the driver was heading eastbound along New Circle Road and somehow lost control of his truck, a Chevy Tahoe near Alumni Drive. Police say the driver’s truck flipped several times and went over the center median before landing on the westbound side of New Circle. ABC 36 was told, the driver was the only person in the car and there were no other injuries reported.
Traffic was redirected and the westbound side of New Circle Road was shut down for several hours while crews cleaned up debris.
Investigators say they are looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. They also say they will look to see if there were any mechanical issues with the truck.
