LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – As we get ready to ring in a new year, state police want to remind everyone it’s a dangerous time to get on the roads. They hope everyone stays safe.
They say 11 people died in traffic accidents in Kentucky New Year’s Eve/Day 2014 and half of those involved alcohol. In 2015, troopers hope that number is zero.
More people have died on Kentucky roads in 2015 than in 2014, according to state police.
State police want everyone to celebrate responsibly. They are bringing in extra troopers and plan to be busy making sure everyone is safe.
Troopers say its’ not just drinking and driving that can be dangerous. They don’t want drivers to text or be on a phone while driving either.
