POWELL CO., Ky. (WTVQ) – A Powell Co. minister is charged with sexually abusing two minors from his church.
The Powell Co. Sheriff’s Office says they arrested 52-year-old Steve Williams Friday afternoon. Investigators say one of William’s alleged victims told their school counselor about the abuse on Thursday. One of the alleged victims suffered abuse for at least a year and a half, according to the Sheriff. Investigators say Williams came into contact with the victims through church.
Williams is lodged in Clark Co. instead of Powell Co. for safety concerns, according to the Sheriff. In addition to being a minister, Williams was a substitute bus driver for the Powell Co. school district. Since the allegations, the Sheriff says Williams resigned from his position at the church. The transportation director said, going forward, Williams will not be called to substitute on school bus routes.
Williams is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning at nine.
