Police investigate attempted kidnapping of Jessie Clark Middle School student

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Parents of students at Jessie Clark Middle School received a letter from the school on Tuesday warning them of the attempted kidnapping of a student.

According to the letter, a man attempted to grab a student Tuesday morning as the child was on the way to the bus stop.  The school says it happened in the Southview Drive and Lamont Drive area.  The letter continues, saying police are investigating the incident.  According to officers, the man was driving a red truck, but have few additional details about his appearance.  Police say they have increased their presence in the area.  The child was not injured in the incident, according to investigators.

The letter concludes encouraging parents to talk with their children about being aware of their surroundings while walking to and from bus stops, and instructing them to report anything they feel is not normal to an adult.
