LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The City of Lexington kicked off the holiday season on Friday with a Holiday Market and live music downtown, capped-off by the lighting of the official Christmas Tree in Triangle Park. Mayor Jim Gray and Santa did the honors and a beautiful night with mild temperatures.
Crews from the Division of Parks & Recreation have been busy decorating the city for the holidays. Crews put up four Christmas trees: Triangle Park, Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden, on Quality Street in front of the Kentucky Utilities building, and along Richmond Road.
A total of 98 light poles have been wrapped in ribbon and garland and street lights have been decorated with approximately 155,000 LED lights.
Friday’s holiday kickoff was called ‘Luminate Lexington,’ which was presented by the Downtown Lexington Corp. and Kentucky Utilities.

-Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden Tree Lighting on November 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the park at the corner of Third Street and Midland Avenue.
-Christmas Parade on December 1 at 7:00 p.m. on Main Street (between Midland Avenue and Mill Street).
-8th Annual Southland Drive Tree Lighting on December 4 from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station #12 at 399 Southland Drive.
