4 tips to make your black friday shopping safer


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) Thursday night shoppers will be on the lookout for bargains and deals.

Thieves will also be out looking to rob and steal, according to Lexington Police. Officers say during this time of year there is usually a spike in car break-ins.

Fayette Mall expects 150,000 people will be coming to the mall Thursday night through Friday to shop. Police are reminding shoppers to follow these steps for a safer Black Friday shopping experience:

– Remember to lock your doors.
– Do not leave your bag or purses in your car.
– Be aware of your surroundings and use common sense.
– Do not post anything to social media about going shopping (thieves may learn of this and target your home).

The Fayette Mall opens at 6 p.m. Thursday. 70 stores will remain open throughout the night and all day Friday until 10 p.m.
