KY American Water donates $9,000 to fire & rescue organizations

LEXINGTON, Ky., (WTVQ) – Kentucky American Water is recognizing 18 volunteer and professional fire and rescue organizations with a total of $9,000 dollars in donations.

The donations are part of the company’s annual Firefighting Support Grant program, which the company initiated five years ago. This year’s donations bring the total amount of funds provided through the program to $35,500.

The following organizations will each receive a $500 grant for the purchase of various pieces of equipment and training:

  • Blue Grass Airport Fire Department – fire hose replacement
  • Bourbon County Fire Department – communications equipment
  • Clark County Fire Department – rope rescue equipment
  • City of Paris Fire Department – personal protective equipment
  • Clintonville Fire Department – portable communications equipment
  • Franklin County Fire Department – portable communications equipment
  • Harrison County Fire Protection District – communications equipment
  • Hutchison Station Volunteer Fire Department – large-diameter hose adaptors
  • Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department – personal protective equipment
  • Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Fire and Emergency Services – fire inspector training fees
  • Millersburg Fire and Rescue Department – fire suppression equipment
  • Monterey Volunteer Fire Department – medical jump bags for medical runs
  • North Middletown Volunteer Fire Department – personal protective equipment
  • Owen County Department of EMS – Emergency medical education training
  • Owen County Search and Rescue – leaf blower to assist with cleaning up accident scenes
  • Owenton Volunteer Fire Department – pruning saw to assist with severe weather incidents
  • Ruddles Mill-Shawhan Volunteer Fire Department – firefighter training
  • Woodford County Fire Protection District – water handling equipment (foam eductor)
