LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It has been a busy 24 hours for Lexington Police, as they investigate a rash of shootings.
Police say four people were shot in three different locations and several shots were fired into a car.
Investigators are looking into whether some of these shootings are related. Police say around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday they were on patrol when they heard shots fired near Hollow Creek Road.
Authorities went to the Hollow Creek area, but say they found nothing. However, officers did find something suspicious on Lin Wal Drive – a car with bullet holes in it.
Police say they are trying to determine if this is tied to the two shootings in Lexington earlier Tuesday. Police say neighbors reported several shots fired around 2:30 p.m. on LaSalle Road.
Once officers arrived they found two people shot and sent them to University of Kentucky Hospital.
The sister of one of the victims told ABC 36 her brother’s wounds are non-life threatening. About an hour and a half later a man was shot at a Dollar Store Plus on Lima Drive.
That victim was also sent to University of Kentucky hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say someone took the victim’s car, a gray Nissan Altima.
According to police, they have taken one person in for questioning, but no one has been charged in any of these shootings.
Police say they believe the shots fired on Hollow Creek Drive is tied to another case. A woman showed up at the hospital at around 1 a.m. Wednesday with a minor gunshot wound to the leg after a fight with her boyfriend.
They say that incident is not tied to the other shootings.
