Thousands of people are at Keeneland for Breeders’ Cup and keeping everyone safe is no small task.
Police have been planning for months to make sure everything runs smoothly.
“We’re just wanting to make sure everybody gets where they need to go and make sure that everybody does it safely,” said Capt. Eric Walking with Kentucky State Police.
Extra officers from multiple law enforcement agencies were brought in for races. While many are visible around the track, KSP says there is also a lot going on behind the scenes.
Officers say day one went smoothly and they remind everyone coming on Saturday that there will be traffic, so arrive early and be patient. They also want to remind people that you can only drive into the lot if you have a parking pass, there’s no dropping people off.
