FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police increased their numbers by 45 Thursday at a ceremony in Frankfort, bringing the agency’s total number of troopers to 880.
The new troopers are part of the agency’s 93rd cadet class, that started out with 70 cadets. Of the four women who started the program, one completed the training. Two African Americans, one Asian American and one American Indian/Alaskan native also graduated in the class. The training included more than 1,000 hours of classroom and field study.
Several members of the class earned special recognition, including valedictorian Ryan Hale, of Inez, Ky., and salutatorian Jeremy Elliotte, of Jellico, Tenn.
