SPRINGFIELD, Tn. (WTVQ) – Wanted fugitive Floyd Ray Cook of Kentucky is accused of firing shots at officers Wednesday night in Robertson County, Tennessee, after being spotted by authorities. Investigators say Cook and Troy Wayne, also of Kentucky, were spotted in a car on I-65 in the White House area of Robertson County, Tennessee. Investigators say during a pursuit, the suspects crashed the car they were in, fired shots at officers and ran off. A search for the two men on the ground and by air is underway as of this writing.
Cook, a convicted felon, is accused of shooting an Algood police officer in Tennessee last Saturday and later firing shots at a Kentucky State Trooper in Cumberland County, Kentucky. A massive, two-state manhunt has been underway since the shooting. As a precaution, school has not been held yet this week in Cumberland County.
After the reported shooting last weekend, Cook was placed on Tennessee’s Ten Most Wanted list. The FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, State Police and local law enforcement agencies have all been involved in the search.
