BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A two-year old child was trapped in a vehicle after a crash in Knox County that resulted in the child’s mother going to jail, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say 27-year old Jill Sizemore of Knox County, lost control of her vehicle on KY 223 in the wee hours of Tuesday, hit an embankment and rolled over.
Investigators say Sizemore’s 2-year old child, who was unrestrained, was partially ejected, with its hands pinned under the roof of the vehicle. After being freed from the wreckage, the child was airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington. The child’s mother, Jill Sizemore, was treated and released from the hospital in Knox County and then taken to jail.
Investigators say Sizemore was charged with Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Failure to Use Child Restraint, No Seat Belt, Failure to Maintain Insurance, Driving Too Fast for Road Conditions, Expired Registration Plates and Expired Registration Receipt.
