CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The FBI has now joined in on a massive manhunt for a man that shot a Tennessee deputy and fired shots at a state trooper in Kentucky, police say.

Authorities believe the suspect, Floyd Ray Cook, is on foot. He was last seen in the hilly, wooded countryside in Cumberland County, Kentucky, which borders Tennessee. Kentucky State Police Trooper Billy Gregory says Cook is “as dangerous as they come.”

Late Monday, Cook was also added to Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Most Wanted List.

Cook is accused of wounding the Tennessee officer during a traffic stop Saturday in Putnam County. Authorities say a bulletproof vest saved the officer’s life. Cook is accused of shooting at the Kentucky trooper later Saturday.

On Sunday, state police thought they got a break in the case after a man called police and said Cook was inside his home. State Police’s special response unit was called out to search the home, but they say Cook was not inside.

Anyone with information on Cook’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
