ANDERSON CO., Ky. (WTVQ) – Graefenburg Road, which is KY 151, in Anderson County reopened around two o’clock Monday afternoon after being closed since about seven in the morning.
According to the sheriff’s office a tanker truck over turned on its way to the Wild Turkey Distillery and started leaking pure, grain alcohol.
The sheriff’s office says the truck was carrying about 6,000 gallons of alcohol from Kansas to the distillery.
After the truck overturned, there was a small leak. Crews were afraid it might catch fire but they got it contained.
The driver says he was trying to avoid a hitting a car that was making a u-turn in the middle of the road.
The driver is OK but state police say there was a second wreck when a septic truck tried to pass the accident. Troopers say another car clipped the septic truck then hit a culvert. They say the driver of the car was airlifted to the hospital, unconscious but expected to live.
“The sheriff’s office, as well as the state police have worked several collisions involving commercial vehicles on Graefenburg Road this year,” said Sgt. Bryan Taylor with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet there have been 88 accidents on that road from 2012-2014.
KYTC says Graefenburg Road has been considered a ‘top ten’ project for the last six years and residents should contact their law makers if they want funding.
