CLAY Co. Ky, (WTVQ) — According to Sheriff Kevin Johnson of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, two men were arrested in the early morning hours of Octorber 3.
Around 4 a.m., Deputy Havicus was dispatched to a complaint about a stolen ATV from D&J Pawn Shop in the Garrard Community. After receiving a tip that the thief(s) had headed up Highway 11, Deputy Havicus found 25 year old Dewey Smith and 47 year old Jerry Collins pushing a black Suzuki ATV, with another ATV.
The deputy said both subjects had strong odors of alcohol when he found them, and were unsteady on their feet.
Dewey Smith and Jerry Collins were arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, as well as the theft of farm equipment valued $500-$10,000. The two were lodged in the Clay co. Detention Center.
