LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) -The Lexington Fire Department responded to a house fire around eight o’clock Friday morning on Leestown Road.
The fire department said the home owner, Clarence Woodrum, was still inside the house when it caught fire. They tell us that a passerby was able to get the homeowner out safely.
Fire officials found five dogs inside the home. Two of them were unresponsive but they were able to resuscitate them. Two dogs and a cat died in the fire.
Officials say the house has heavy smoke damage and the Red Cross was called to assist the home owner.
Woodrum told fire crews he heard his housekeeper and her boyfriend arguing. He says the boyfriend threatened to set the house on fire. Firefighters are looking into all possibilities but don’t have a cause of the fire yet.
