CLEVELAND (AP) – Cleveland police were on alert after a bulletin was issued warning them of possible plans to ambush officers.

The bulletin was sent to officers this week after a tip implying that groups of young males on dirt bikes and ATVs planned to bait officers into pursuits and lead them into ambush.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group (http://bit.ly/1L71fGx ) reports there also is a threat of those riders getting close enough to police vehicles to shoot into them.

The police division that issued the alert declined to comment on the threat and would not say who made it or who reported it.

Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association President Steve Loomis said officers consider it a credible threat.
