FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police announced that they will be increasing patrols on Labor Day weekend, as part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
“We know there are going to be family celebrations during Labor Day where alcohol will be present, so your best bet is to always designate a sober driver before the parties begin,” says Lt. Col. Mike Crawford.
Last Labor Day holiday, there were six alcohol-related highway deaths on Kentucky roadways, and 55 DUI arrests during the same timeframe.
In addition to statewide DUI enforcement, KSP says they will be paying special attention to making sure people are wearing seatbelts, are properly registered, as well as driving with insurance in a road-safe vehicle.
Citizens are encouraged to download the new KSP mobile app that allows individuals to report criminal activity confidentially or utilize the KSP toll-free number (1-800-222-5555) to report impaired or erratic drivers. The mobile app is available in both the Apple© and Google Play© stores free of charge and is titled ‘KSPOLICE’.
