(WTVQ) – The U.S. Supreme Court has turned down Rowan County Clerk, Kim Davis’ appeal of earlier court rulings.
Davis says she is opposed to same-sex marriage. Following the Supreme Courts decision to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50 states, Davis denied such couples marriage licenses based on ‘religious grounds’.
Over the last few weeks, Davis said she had been refusing to issue marriage licenses to all couples, gay and straight because she didn’t want to discriminate.
According to court documents, Davis is now required to issue the licenses to all couples and if she doesn’t comply she could be held in ‘contempt of court’.
