LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A wheelchair shouldn’t mean that sports activities are no longer an option. In fact, to play on the “Hill on Wheels” team, they’re a necessity.
Easter Seals Cardinal Hill is seeking players 16 years of age and older to participate on the “Hill on Wheels” team. To be eligible, athletes must have an objective and measurable permanent physical impairment in their lower limbs that prevents them from running, jumping and pivoting.
Players do not have to have any experience with wheelchair basketball. Interested players are encouraged to come observe and participate. Coaches and players are available to answer any questions or assist with skill development and participation.
Practices take place from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the Charles Young Center Gym, 540 East Third St. Those interested in participating or learning more about the sport should show up on a practice night. Specialized sport chairs are available. Games are played October through April. Regular and post season tournaments are played locally, regionally and nationally.
