WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – A press release from the City of Winchester details the agreement the city made with 60 firefighters, after they filed a lawsuit back in December.

In the lawsuit, firefighters said that Winchester didn’t include incentive pay or sick leave buy back funds into their overtime payments.  They also alleged the city didn’t make the appropriate retirement contributions.  A partial summary judgement in January supported the firefighters’ claims.

In a statement released today, the city revealed an agreement to pay just over $800,000 dollars to the firefighters in back wages, interest, and attorney fees.  The City of Winchester will also be responsible for calculating FICA withholdings and retirement contributions to the Kentucky Retirement System for each firefighter.
