UPDATE: New details on abandoned dog

Dog found abandoned in dumpster
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Officials with Jessamine Co. Animal Care and Control are releasing additional information about an abandoned dog found at the Buford Place apartment complex.

According to the director of Jessamine Co. Public Services, the dog was found beside a dumpster – not in it as has been previously reported – around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.  A good samaritan took the dog to a shelter and then to a vet.  The director says the dog is roughly 6 months old, and a female.

The dog has been given food, though only a little at a time to avoid shock.  She is also being tested for internal injuries.  Jessamine Co. Animal Care and Control says they believe the dog will bounce back, but expect a long road of recovery.  They are not, at this point, placing any timeline for when the dog would be available for adoption.
