A week ago, Monday night, flash floods destroyed the Flatgap community in the county. Four people were killed and more than 60 homes were destroyed.
When the members of Sundy Best heard about the disaster, they said they had to help out.
“We’re not here just to raise money or take up donations,” band member Nick Jamerson says. “[This concert is] for those people who have suffered flood damage to kind of escape that fact for a little bit.”
Hundreds of people packed into the Johnson Central High School parking lot to escape that fact for just a night. The truest sense of community bringing smiles, laughter and friendships to a heartbroken community.
“We’ve had support from all over and people forget about that sometimes,” Jamerson says. “It’s easy to just talk about the negative things that happen, but there’s the greatest people on earth that live in this state.”
