(LEXINGTON, K.y.) – A man driving his car along New Circle Road Tuesday morning had a very close call when his brakes failed.
Haithem Abdin says he immediately pulled into the nearest parking lot when his brakes gave out and moments later he says his car caught fire. At first, Abdin said the fire was small, so he went to get a bucket of water to put it out. He told ABC 36 that by the time he came back fire crews had already been called to scene and his car was engulfed in flames. Crews put out the fire within minutes but, Abdin’s car was destroyed.
"I’m watching money burn, a lot of money burn." he said. "I’m thanking God I wasn’t in the car. It’s just material, just a car. I’m glad I wasn’t in it when it burned. I can always get another car."
Abdin told ABC 36 that it was only five days ago that he was involved in another accident. This time, he says he was the victim of a hit and run. He said he was hit while riding his motorcycle along Winchester Road and Midland Avenue. Abdin said he has neck fractures and suffered a broken arm.
