LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – On Thursday afternoon, a Detective involved in investigating the June 7 fatal shootings testified in the case against Jermaine Anderson.

The Detective said at the stand that the suspect had run toward a cemetery, tossing aside a handgun as he attempted to flee from police. Ballistic reports presented in court show that the shell casing at the scene of the crime matches the 9MM handgun that police say was thrown by Anderson.

Police say Anderson is being charged with murder and first-degree assault, as well as Fleeing, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Trafficking in Cocaine.

The Charles Ave shooting, the detective said, is not connected to the Whitney Ave shooting, despite a victim in each case having the same list name.

Anderson was arrested the same day the shootings occurred.  According to officers, the shootings had started Sunday morning, on Hillcrest Avenue near Diamonds strip club. LPD had been called to the scene for gunshots, and found bullet cases. Victims reportedly later showed up to local hospitals.

The second shooting, which Jermaine Anderson is being charged in relation to, happened around 6 p.m. on Whitney Avenue  and involved LPD finding two people shot multiple times. The two people were rushed to the hospital, but police say it was too late for Montez Graves, who was pronounced dead by the Lexington coroner.

The third shooting happened on Charles Avenue around 8:30 p.m., and LPD said they found 54-year-old Ronnie Graves shot in a car. Ronnie Graves was pronounced dead an hour later, despite being rushed to the hospital.

All three shootings are still being investigated, and Officers say anyone with additional information is encouraged to step forward.
