VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) – Authorities say another cat was shot in Versaille’s Lanes View subdivision on Thursday, and PETA has come forward with a reward to nab the shooter.
This marks the sixth cat that was shot this year in that neighborhood, officials say, including two who have died from their injuries. Versailles Police and the Woodford County Animal Control say they have been investigating the matter, but unfortunately have not been able to find evidence enough to make arrests.
These events have prompted PETA to offer a cash reward, up to $2,500 for “information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for these crimes.”
"Two cats have died, four more have been shot and left to suffer from painful and terrifying injuries, and several more are missing," says PETA Senior Director Colleen O’Brien. "PETA is urging anyone with information about the attacker or attackers to come forward immediately— before anyone else gets hurt."
Woodford County Animal Control says they are not involved with PETA, but do appreciate high reward, and welcome any help in catching the person(s) responsible.
Anyone with information about this case should call the Woodford County Animal Control at 859-879-0598 or the Versailles Police Department at 859-873-3126
