UNION, Ky. (AP) — Police believe they have found the body of an 88-year-old Tipp City man found in Boone County.
Multiple news sources report Tipp City, Ohio Chief of Police Eric Burns announced at a news conference Thursday morning that the man found was William York Sr. of Tipp City, but the body has not been positively identified. York went missing from his home Saturday morning. The body was found in a sleeping bag and pulled from Gunpowder Creek in Union Wednesday.
Authorities arrested York’s granddaughter, 24-year-old Hope Earnshaw-York, and her boyfriend, 35-year-old Richard Terrel Wednesday. Tipp City police detective Sgt. Chris Graham said no charges relating to the death have been filed.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and York’s cause of death is unknown.
