UPDATE: School bus driver arrested in reported gun incident

Guns brought to Dewitt Elementary
KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police say a Knox County bus driver was arrested after two children brought guns to an elementary school. Troopers say the student’s parents were also cited in the incident.

According to state police, Dewitt Elementary School in Flat Lick was put on lock down Thursday after two brothers brought pistols to school. According to troopers, the children, ages 6 and 7, showed the guns to another student during the bus ride to school. State police say that student told a teacher as soon as they arrived. According to investigators, one of the pistols was loaded.

State police say John W Jackson, Jr. and Melissa Jackson were cited for endangering the welfare of a minor and released. Troopers say the children were placed with relatives.

According to investigators, bus driver Charles R. Honce III was arrested and charged with Facilitation to unlawfully possess a weapon on school property. State police say a student on the bus told Honce that a child had a handgun. According to troopers, Honce did not stop and check for weapons, or notify school staff.
