CRAB ORCHARD, Ky. (AP) — The William Whitley House historic site in Lincoln County is unveiling a new walking trail and thoroughbred racing exhibit.
The new attractions open on Kentucky Derby Day, May 2.
The area is the sight of one of the nation’s earliest racetracks, dating back to the 18th century. The new walking trail will include six interpretive signs on the history of racing.
A "Trophies and Silks" exhibit will celebrate thoroughbred racing and include a replica of the Kentucky Derby trophy, jockey silks and other racing memorabilia. They will be on display through June 28.
The William Whitley House is about 10 miles south of Stanford off U.S. 150. The home is open for tours Wednesday through Sunday starting May 1.
