UPDATE: Lexington roads reopened after gas leaks

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Roads have been reopened after two different gas leaks caused evacuations and road closures near University of Kentucky’s campus Monday.

The first leak occurred on the campus near Oldham Court and Columbia Avenue. Fire officials say a construction crew hit the gas line, causing the leak.

University of Kentucky Police evacuated about 200 residential students from the Woodland Glenn housing complexes while crews worked to repair the line.

The second leak occurred just a few minutes after the first near the intersection near of Nicholasville Road and Alumni Drive. Police shut down both directions of Alumni Drive while Columbia Gas crews worked to repair the line there.

Fire officials weren’t sure if the two leaks were related.
