Southern Baptist Convention helps Paris storm victims

PARIS, Ky. (WTVQ) – Wednesday morning members of the Southern Baptist Convention came to help Paris storm victims who lost nearly everything.  On Friday homes on Glenview Road were flooded, soaking furniture, books, clothes and anything the water could reach.

"Everything is ruined. There’s nothing left. It’s all sitting out on the curb," says Kathy Combs.  She says she feels like she is starting over after living at her home for 24 years.

About 12-15 members from the SBC helped Combs and other people along the street sift through their things, determining what could be salvaged.  They took away the items that were ruined by water or mold.

Combs says on Friday her backyard was covered in 8 or 9 feet of water.  She says the water was 17 inches deep in her home.

"I’ve worked all my life for the things I’ve got and it’s gone," says Combs.

One church member reminded Combs that the journey is not over.

Combs does hope FEMA will come in and provide support.
