Coach John Calipari named Naismith Coach of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS, In. (WTVQ) – Sunday Kentucky Men’s Basketball coach John Calipari was named the Naismith Coach of the Year for the third time in his career.

A source at ESPN says Coach Cal got the minimum number of 18 votes.

Calipari has coached teams in the Final Four on six occasions, four of those were with Kentucky. Coach Cal also has a national championship from the 2012 season. He also coach three seasons in the NBA for the New Jersey Nets.

Additionally, Calipari has been a finalist for the award in five other seasons. Other finalists for the 2015 award include Virginia’s Tony Bennett, Wisconsin’s Bo Ryan and Jay Wright of Villanova.
