According to investigators, they received a call Monday evening about a man who had purchased lithium batteries and then hid under a railroad bridge on 5th and Maple Street. Officers say when they got there, Canady ran away and hid in a lumberyard. K-9 units located Canady several minutes later.
Officers say they found several chemicals used to make meth, along with boxes of pseudoephedrine under the bridge. Canady was charged with Evading Police, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Meth Precursors, and Public Intoxication. He was taken to the Whitley County Detention Center.
