Man is shot defending his girlfriend and her child

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – An armed home invasion on North Upper Street Saturday morning sent one man to the hospital, according to Lexington Police.

Police say just before 3:15 a.m., the victim was inside a home with his girlfriend and her child when two men broke through the front door. Officers say there was a struggle and the 10-year-old little girl was grabbed and threatened.

Police say the boyfriend was shot in his left arm. He was able to chase the intruders out of the home and now police are searching for them. They say the suspects took off in a 2000 blue Chevy Impala. Police describe one of the suspects as heavy and wearing a dark coat. They believe the other was in a hoodie.
The child was not harmed and was left with a relative. The boyfriend was treated at UK Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
