Woodford County volunteer firefighters tell us the call came in just before 6:30 Wednesday morning. They say by the time they got to the scene, one barn had already been destroyed and a second was on fire. They say eventually a third barn caught on fire.
According to the Woodford County fire chief, the barns’ wooden structure fed the fire, along with hay that was being stored inside.
The fire chief says the official cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and that it could be a few days before a full report is released.
People familiar with the farm say Chanteclair specializes in broodmares, a type of female thoroughbred horse used for breeding. There is no word on the value of the horses that were lost.
